What’s more American than baseball and Bruce Springsteen? How about both together?
Major League Baseball announced Thursday that Bruce’s song “Land of Hopes and Dreams” will be the unofficial theme song of baseball’s postseason broadcasts this October. Springsteen and the E Street Band have spent the summer performing at several Major League ballparks.
Here’s a video produced by MLB:
The song is included on Springsteen’s latest album, “Wrecking Ball,” but Bruce had been performing it with the E Street Band live for quite a long time before that. The song was played during the band’s 1999-2000 reunion tour and was included on the “Live From New York City” album in 2001.
The New York Yankees, of which Bruce is a fan, are expected to qualify for the playoffs.
