According to the New Yorker’s profile of the clickbait king, this is the future of the Internet
Did you read the New Yorker profile on the “King of Clickbait,” Emerson Spartz of Dose.com? This guy’s stuff sounds like Buzzfeed, only minus all that “occasional great journalism” baggage. I know the way things work now, and virility is the thing. But what they’re doing over there is practically post-human- it makes Upworthy look like the New York Review of Books (The New Yorker)
Will Bunch points out something I’ve noticed too- Whatever happened to decades? You can’t analyze the “2000s” or “2010s” the way you could the ’80s or ’90s. If we could, imagine how many more listicles there’d be. I’m almost looking forward to the start of the ’20s just for that reason (Attytood)
National Review, continuing their six-decade tradition of wonderful racial sensitivity, mistakenly tweeted a picture of a random white guy, along with “RIP, Stuart Scott” (Little Green Footballs)
Hilarious episode last week in which sports radio loudmouth Jim Rome insulted marching bands, and marching bands hilariously, wittily struck back. It’s kind of like Gamergate, except not at all- here’s a nerd subculture reacting to mainstream media disrespect with wit and humor, as opposed to, you know, threats of violence and life-ruining (Awful Announcing)
This list of great quotes from porn might be the funniest Reddit thread of all time (Reddit)
Debunkings of several pro-torrenting arguments (Fredrik DeBoer)
Craig Calcaterra smacks down the notion that Ronald Reagan would have screened “The Interview” at the White House- mostly because Ronnie mostly preferred old Westerns and his own movies. Although it would have been hilarious if Reagan showed “The Interview” and invited Meese (Hardball Talk)
