MoviePass, a start-up that last year tried to launch a $40 all-you-attend moviegoing service, but then gave up when no major theater chains bought in, is giving it another try.
Under its new model MoviePass, which launches Tuesday, is offered with “variable price testing” for $29.99 per month. It comes with a smartphone app that allows users to check in at theaters of their choice, unlocking their membership card. Users will pay MoviePass, which will reimburse the theaters.
The service is available to current members as well as the 75,000 names on the service’s waiting list from last year.
