Two of the best things going in American pop culture will meet early next year, when Patton Oswalt appears as a guest star on FX’s acclaimed crime drama Justified.

According to TVLine, Oswalt will play Bob Sweeney, “a local constable who went to high school with Raylan [Timothy Olyphant] and has been hired by the lawman to watch Arlo’s house.” It’s unclear if the spot is for one episode or multiple ones.

Oswalt has been on quite a roll the last couple of years, with a successful standup career, an excellent book called “Zombie Spaceship Wasteland,” one of the more entertaining Twitter feeds and a well-received dramatic role in last year’s movie “Young Adult.”

He should fit in well in Harlan County, but I’m waiting for some network to give Patton a Louie-like show.
