Hip-hop entrepreneur Jay-Z will unleash his Life and Times YouTube channel with a free live stream of his gig this Saturday at 9:30 PM ET, reports The Verge.
A final in a series of eight nights, the performance will take place at the ‘most high-tech stadium in sports,’ the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, home of the Brooklyn Nets, a basketball team partially owned by the artist.
The web-channel is in conjuncture with Hova’s arts and culture website of the same name and will include all original content, including a documentary series on the Brooklyn Nets. Currently, it features interviews with artists and musicians, as well as spotlights in technology and sports, style and leisure articles.
“We’re approaching this channel and programming it, not at the level of MTV or BET — at least, not yet — but really programming it as a real channel that will have regular content,” said Michael Hirschorn, Chief Creative Officer.
The channel is part of an original programming initiative by YouTube to compete with television programming. As of today, there are more than 100 channels that have launched.
