A Blu-ray combo pack of the raunchy comedy hit Ted will hit stores on Dec. 11, Universal Studios announced on Oct. 10.
The feature-film directorial debut of “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane (who is having a very good year, having recently hosted “Saturday Night Live” and named host of the 2013 Oscars), Ted was a smash hit upon release in July of 2012, going on to earn over $218 million at the domestic box office, and more than $450 million worldwide.
Ted stars Mark Wahlberg as John, whose childhood wish that his teddy bear would become alive comes true. MacFarlane voiced the foul-mouthed, hard-partying Ted, and Mila Kunis co-stars as John’s girlfriend Lori. The cast also features Joel McHale (of “The Soup”), Sam Jones (who played the title character in the 1980 camp-fest Flash Gordon) and singer Norah Jones.
The music score was composed by Walter Murphy, the brains behind the 1976 classical disco hit “A Fifth of Beethoven.”
Ted is currently the highest-grossing R-rated film of 2012, and the ninth-highest-grossing-overall film of the year.
The combo-pack will feature, in addition to a Blu-ray of the film’s unrated edition, a standard DVD with Ultraviolet and Digital Copy versions. Bonus features on both the Blu-ray and DVD include a gag reel, a making-of feature, and commentary by MacFarlane, Wahlberg and co-writer Alec Sulkin. Blu-ray-only features include deleted scenes, alternate takes, a look at the making of the film’s Motel 6 fight scene, a pocket BLU app, and BD-LIVE content.
