NBC has canceled Next Caller, a comedy starring comedian/actor Dane Cook. After filiming four episodes in a six-episode order, reports Deadline, Lionsgate TV and Universal TV have stopped further production on the project.
Never making it to air, the network decided that the show was creatively “not going in the direction they had hoped for.”
Cook, who plays a raunchy radio DJ forced to co-host a show with a ”chipper NPR feminist,” played by Collette Wolfe, has never starred in a television series prior, aside from the short-lived HBO docuseries Dane Cook’s Tourgasm. Next Caller was created and executie produced by Stephen Falk and also featured Joy Osmanski, Wole Parks and TV veteran Jeffrey Tambor.
Sorry Dane Cook fans.
