The pioneering 1980s gangsta rap group N.W.A. is set to receive the biopic treatment. According to the Hollywood Reporter, director F. Gary Gray is in talks to direct “Straight Outta Compton,” which takes its title from the group’s best known album.
N.W.A. member-turned-actor-turned-director Ice Cube is on board as a co-producer of the project, which is based on a script by Andrea Berloff. Gray’s directorial credits include “Friday,” “The Negotiator,” “The Italian Job” and “Law Abiding Citizen.”
