Are you a huge Sex and the City fan? Are you a child of the ’80s? Do you just love anything spandex or neon? Then The CW’s new prequel series The Carrie Diaries may be just the thing to tide you over until the next Bradshaw blockbuster or wave of bright tights.
The Carrie Diaries is set to premiere on The CW this January, but fans can see the new preview now, reports TV Line. In this almost 3 minute long trailer, a 16-year-old Carrie Bradshaw attends high school in 1984. While the hair isn’t as big and the colors aren’t as bright as they would have been in the 80s, you can still hear synthesizer music in the background and see some funny, outdated clothes. Carrie also starts an internship in NYC and has a run-in with a style savvy editor, foreshadowing her much-loved New York antics.
The Carrie Diaries appears to be a sweet, coming-of-age show that will surely capture Sex and the City fans attention, but it doesn’t look like there’s anything there for anyone over the age of 21. The series has almost everything the original had including fashion, boys, and nightlife, but it’s clearly missing the main ingredient – sex.
