Writer-actor-comedian Stephen Merchant has just recieved an eight-episode series order from HBO for his new comedy series entitled Hello Ladiessays Deadline.

The co-creator of the original version of The Office will star as a British transplant whose less-than-charming libido steers him into awkward circumstances amongst the beautiful people of Los Angeles. This subject matter was touched upon in Merchant’s standup show of the same name last year.

Working again with The Office alums, writer-producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky will executive produce the series. Hello Ladies will be produced by HBO in association with ABC Studios.

The pilot episode co-starred Christine Woods, Nate Torrence and Kevin Weisman.

With a past output like Merchant’s, it’s pretty safe to say that Hello Ladies will feature the writer’s unique brand of quirky humor and should definitely merit some attention.
