Here’s your box office report for this past weekend, complete with snarky commentary.
.) “Skyfall,” $87.8M. The largest opening for a Bond film ever. More importantly, it is tremendously entertaining. Javier Bardem is, just, wow.
.) “Wreck-It-Ralph,” $33.1M. I’m really hopeful that this paves the way for a long overdue movie adaptation of Duck Hunt.
.) “Flight,” $15.1M. I have nothing to base this on, only a gut feeling, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Denzel Washington wins another Academy Award this year.
.) “Argo,” $6.8M. A cool bit of trivia: One of the hostages that Ben Affleck takes out of Iran is played by Rory Cochrane, his co-star from the immortal “Dazed and Confused.”
.) “Taken 2,” $4M. I think Liam Neeson–the man who once starred in “Schindler’s List” and “Kinsey”–is another sequel or two away from turning into Chuck Norris.
