The Transformers movies have grossed $2.6 billion worldwide, and the fourth movie will a little more of it on the actors. Mark Wahlberg will star in the next movie, easily becoming the biggest actor to appear in these films.
Shia LaBeouf was the primary human involved in the first three. He’s gone on record saying there just wasn’t anything left to do with Sam Witwicky, the character he played. It sounds like an amicable split, as both he and director Michael Bay have nothing but good things to say about each other.
Bay says the next movie will take place four years after “Dark of the Moon,” and is very much part of the same storyline. Bay and Wahlberg worked together on the crime comedy “Pain and Gain,” which is slated for an April 2013 release. Seems they got along just fine and are eager to work together again.
“Transformers 4″ will start filming in the spring of 2013, targeting a June 27, 2014 release date. Do you think Mark Wahlberg can breathe new life into these robots?
“Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on ‘Pain and Gain’ and I’m so fired up to be back working with him,” Deadline quoted Bay as saying. “An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the ‘Transformers’ legacy.”
