Here’s your box office report for this past weekend, complete with snarky commentary.
.) “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2,” $141M. What’s staggering about the movie’s success is that this is not even the best opening in the franchise’s history. That would be “New Moon” with $142.8M in ’09.
.) “Skyfall,” $41.5M. With Adele’s classy, bourbon-smooth performance of the title track, I have to ask: What is the best opening song to a Bond film? This is my choice.
.) “Lincoln,” $21M. I’ll be curious to see how the movie handles Abe’s creation of Lincoln Logs.
.) “Wreck-It-Ralph,” $18.3M. At $121 million and climbing. Let the countdown to $200 million begin…if you’re into that kind of thing.
.) “Flight,” $8.6M. My guess is that “Silver Linings Playbook” bumps it next week.
