New Smashing Pumpkins Album Arriving June 19

Nineties alternative rock group The Smashing Pumpkins, announced last week the full details of their upcoming album, “Oceania.”

Rolling Stone reported the 11-song set album is set for release June 19. This CD is said to be a part of the 44-song work-in-progress known as “Teargarden by Kaleidyscope.”  Front man Billy Corgon has recently told the press the tour is really “an album within an album.”

“Oceania” is the Pumpkins’ first major album since the release of “Zeitgeist” in 2007. It is also the first album to be released with a trio of new band members: bassist Nicole Fiorentino, guitarist Jeff Schroeder and drummer Mike Byrne.

NME reports that in December of last year, Corgan referred to “Oceania” as the “band’s strongest offering since 1995′s ‘Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness.’”
