MTV announced the 2012 MTV Movie Awards nominations, with The Hunger Games and Bridesmaids leading the list with eight nominations each. Interestingly, the universally panned The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I only earned two nominations compared to its predecessor’s eight.

Two new categories were added this year, “Best Gut-Wrenching Performance” and “Best On-Screen Dirt Bag.”

Fans are encouraged to vote for their favorites starting next Tuesday morning. The award show will air June 3 at 9:00 PM ET/PT.
