Comic book based smash The Walking Dead is now the highest rated show among the 18-49 year demographic advertisers crave. Sunday’s midseason finale, featuring the long-awaited confrontation between Michonne and The Governor, drew 10.5 million viewers.

That didn’t quite equal the 10.9 million who tuned in for the Season 3 premiere, but it’s still a really, really good number.

Spoiler Alert! Seriously! Don’t read further if you don’t want to know stuff!

The show has a different storyline than the book, but The Governor and Michonne are important characters in both worlds. Tyreese, another fan favorite, arrived in the Dec. 2 show also. Season 3 amped up the action, as much of the second season dealt with the search for lost child Sophia. There was still plenty of internal conflict. But just about every episode this season saw our favorite group of survivors battling zombies, crazy people, or both at the same time.

Season 3’s cliffhanger saw the Dixon brothers, Daryl and Merle, reunited. They won’t have time for hugs and kisses as they are still prisoners of The Governor. The show returns February 10 for the final eight episodes of the season. These numbers indicate a lot of folks will find that to be an excruciatingly long wait.
