Thanks to the runaway success of AMC’s The Walking Dead, its fan discussion show Talking Dead is expanding to one hour. The show teases upcoming episodes, takes calls from viewers and chats up celebrity guests who love the show. It was all a lot to cram into 30 minutes. Host Chris Hardwick, a comedian who embraces his love of all things nerdy, said the change will allow more fan interaction and interviews. Also, he’ll actually get to breathe during the show now.
Talking Dead will move up an hour in the schedule too. Previously, a repeat of the latest The Walking Dead episode preceded the talk show. WWE Champion CM Punk, comedienne Sarah Silverman and Community star Yvette Nicole Brown are among the celebs who have spent time on the couch this season. Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead comic, often stops by too.
In addition to the interviews and sneak peaks of upcoming episodes, Talking Dead delivers an obit for the characters that died that week. Since we don’t always get backstory on the zombies, they have humorous names such as “Sweater Vest” Walker. Talking Dead and The Walking Dead both return Feb. 10, 2013, barring apocalypses of the Mayan or zombie variety.
