I don’t think I got “Bad Santa” the first time I saw it. I was just a bit too disturbed to laugh. But Terry Zwigoff’s film has grown on me over the years. Now I try to catch it at least once a holiday season.
Here’s my favorite scene, starting at about the 46-second mark below, as the mall’s boss (John Ritter) confronts his head of security (Bernie Mac) over the inappropriate behavior of the titular mall santa (Billy Bob Thornton.)
If you can get past the sadness of both actors in it having since passed away, it’s a great scene. Especially, watch the way Bernie eats an orange. (WARNING: Some adult language, to put it mildly)
