Disney, through its consumer products division, has spent the last three years working on Playmation, a toy-and-wearable system which will allow users to feel as though they’re roll playing their favorite Disney-universe characters. Movie Review: “Jurassic World”

Back in the early 1990’s, celebrated science fiction author Michael Crichton penned a novel for the ages. It featured greedy theme park investors, geneticists playing God, skeptical scientists, small children in peril, and (last, but not least) a small tropical island filled with recently cloned dinosaurs running amok. Uhhh… needless to say, I was sold. more »

Reese Witherspoon to get her magical fairy on in Disney’s live-action ‘Tink’

What the #*&% is happening to Reese Witherspoon as of late? Talk about a schizophrenic career. On the one hand, she’s produced Oscar caliber efforts like ‘Gone Girl’ while starring in equally impressive films like ‘Wild‘ and ‘The Good Lie.’ Then there’s the crude commercial crap of something like ‘Hot Pursuit,’ or the unnecessary nonsense more »

Movie Review: “Tomorrowland”

When I was a wee lad there were two summer movies that I distinctly remember being genuinely excited for during the early 1990’s. Not surprisingly, both films were under some sect of the Disney logo, which meant that the mouse-eared machine was fully loaded and ready to unload action figures and fast food tie-ins at the rabid public. Have you been hoping for a new movie news app, only one that only covered news about Disney and its associated properties, in the corporate voice of the Walt Disney Company? Remember that insane news story a few years ago that a guy from Virginia who decided to “claim” an 800-square mile section of the Sudan and crown his daughter the “princess”? Brad Bird is returning to animation with ‘The Incredibles 2′

By most accounts, ‘The Incredibles’ is one of Pixar’s very best. It earned an Academy Award for the mastermind behind the scenes – director Brad Bird – and became a benchmark for the soon to be omnipresent superhero film genre. For the longest time, few thought we’d see a sequel to the clever comedy. After more »

There will be another ‘Indiana Jones’ film…just don’t hold your breath waiting for it

Remember all the gossip flying around? Right about the time Chris Pratt was proving that Marvel could make even marginalized properties boffo box office with James Gunn’s brilliant ‘Guardians of the Galaxy?’ You know, the rumors that a certain Star-Lord would soon be wearing a different kind of cinematic cap – a FEDORA to be more »

A live action Jack and the Beanstalk movie has been conceived by… Vince Gilligan?

Yes, you have seen at least one live-action movie adaptation of the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk, but perhaps none like the one Disney just bought: it’s being developed and possibly directed by the creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul,  Vince Gilligan. Those will be some gritty beans. The Hollywood Reporter describes more »

‘Captain Marvel’ lands ‘Guardians’/’Inside Out’ writers

With the ongoing fallout from Gamergate as well as numerous online protests about the lack of “diversity” in superhero films (just this week, Disney was taken to task for keeping Black Widow merchandise off of its planned ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ roll out), it’s clear that the still successful genre has a fairly significant PC more »

The Pin is back! Disney drops yet another ‘Tomorrowland’ trailer

It’s got George Clooney, one of the world’s most famous A-list actors. It’s got Oscar winner Brad Bird behind the lens. It even has one of Disney’s new found film fads – a female lead. Yet for some reason, The House of Mouse doesn’t seem to trust this Non-Marvel, Non-Star Wars original known as ‘Tomorrowland.’ more »
