While we try and leave the gaming talk to the folks who know a bit more, our sister site GamerTell, there are some that we simply cannot ignore. That being the case, one such game has officially landed in the iOS App Store this morning — Walking Dead: The Game from Telltale Inc. The game is priced at $4.99 and is universal in nature which means it will run equally nice on the big screen of the iPad and the smaller screen of the iPhone.

The Walking Dead game is sitting at version 1.0, measures in as a 329MB file download and requires iOS 4.2 or later for use. Otherwise, we should point out that while the game requires iOS 4.2 or later — it also has another device specific requirement. This game will run only on the iPad 2 and new iPad and only on iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. Telltale clearly notes that this “will not run on earlier devices.”

This release arrives as Episode 1 with plans for 2,3,4 and 5 to come later. The future episodes will be available as in-app purchases. For those who cannot wait to part with some money, you can pre-order Episodes 2-5 as of today and get a 25 percent discount. Finally, the episodes break down as follows;

  • Episode 1: A New Day
  • Episode 2: Starved For Help
  • Episode 3: Long Road Ahead
  • Episode 4: Around Every Corner
  • Episode 5: No Time Left

That all being said, you can skip down and follow the via link at the bottom of this post and be taken directly to the game in the app store or sit here and continue to read the features. We suspect most will choose the former, however just for those who stuck around, here is how the game is described;

The Walking Dead is a five-part episodic game series set in the same universe as Robert Kirkman’s award-winning comic books featuring Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes.

This is not another shoot ‘em up; it’s a game that explores some very dark psychological places, revealing that the undead are not the only thing to be afraid of when society crumbles.

In this brand new story, you are Lee Everett, a man given a second chance at life in a world devastated by the undead. With corpses returning to life and survivors stopping at nothing to maintain their own safety, protecting an orphaned girl named Clementine may offer him redemption in a world gone to hell.

Experience a dark, visceral and emotional series where every action and decision you make can result in the story changing around you. This tailored experience means that your story could be very different to that of someone else.
