It looks like Sony is prepping a new tablet as a successor to their not-so-successful Sony Tablet S. Specs and other juicy information about the tablet was spotted by the German site, Mobiflip by way of some internal slides. According to the leaked slides, the next Sony Xperia tablet will be thinner, lighter and more powerful than the Sony Tablet S. And yes, it will be rebranded as the Sony Xperia tablet from thereon.
As for the specs, the Xperia Tablet will most likely feature a Tegra 3 processor, Android 4.0 or possibly Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 16/32/64 GB of internal storage, 6000mAh battery which should last up to 10 hours, 3G, Wi-Fi and an 8.8mm thick splash-proof aluminum casing. Additionally, said tablet will come with a keyboard cover similar to the Microsoft Surface tablet. What differentiates this one from the Surface is the fact that the keyboard appears to be wrapping around the tablet itself. It then folds back to serve as a kickstand.
Now for the juicier information, the slides also indicate that the “tentative suggested retail prices” for the tablet will be $449.99, $549.99, and $649.99 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models respectively. What do you think, folks? Is the pricing scheme for the Xperia Tablet competitive enough?
