The Samsung Galaxy S III has been announced for yet another US carrier. Well, more accurately in the is case, a US based MVNO. That technicality aside, the Galaxy S III has been announced for Ting. And before we dive into the pricing and availability of the handset — lets offer a refresher on Ting. They run on the Sprint network and are operating as a company that charges you based on actual usage. In other words, assuming you have good Sprint coverage available where you live and/or work — this may be an opportunity to save a few bucks each month.
The one catch with this, just like the pre-paid carriers, with Ting you will be paying full price for the handsets. That being the case, the Galaxy S III will set you back $529.99 for the 16GB model or $579.99 for the 32GB model. Ting is offering the GSIII in both the Pebble Blue and Marble White.
Otherwise, the Ting compatible Galaxy S III is basically what you would be getting if you purchased by way of Sprint — that is to say an LTE device that is running Android 4.0 ICS and sporting hardware features to include a 4.8-inch (1280 x 720) display, dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, microSD card slot, 2100 mAh battery, 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera and an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera.
Lastly, keep in mind that Ting is only accepting pre-orders and as of now, have stated that they will begin shipping in 3 to 6 weeks.
