MetroPCS has officially launched their VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) network. And nicely done as this marks the first “commercially available” VoLTE network. In other words, MetroPCS has managed to beat out the larger carriers. That bit said though, the VoLTE coverage is going to be limited at first. According to details coming from MetroPCS, the only VoLTE capable handset, the LG Connect 4G smartphone, will only be available for those in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. As far as expanded availability and additional devices, that was noted as being expanded upon in the coming weeks. Otherwise, aside from the MetroPCS VoLTE, the carrier is now touting their LTE network availability as being at “roughly” 90 percent (of their current CDMA footprint).
