Those using Flipboard on an Android device may want to fire up Google Play and grab the latest update. Yup, the Flipboard for Android app has been updated. This latest update brings Flipboard up to version 1.9.6. The app maintains the requirement of Android 2.2 (or later) for use and measures in as a 2.9MB file download. And of course, the app is both free to download and free to use. Those bits aside though, lets get into the good stuff — the changes. Coming from the ‘what’s new’ section of the Google Play listing, the Flipboard for Android changelog reads as follows;

  • Improved navigation within sections, visible when you tap on section’s name
  • Easier access to Google Reader feeds and folders
  • In-app hints that expose helpful functionality
  • New shopping cart features (Gilt Taste section)
  • Improved performance and bug fixes
