Over the weekend we saw some reports that suggested AT&T was going to stop selling subsidized (on-contract) tablets. And well, a quick check of the AT&T website this morning appears to confirm just that. The AT&T website has the iPad along with some refurbished models available, however the real points here come by the Pantech Element and HTC Jetstream — two devices that were previously sold at a discount and on a two-year agreement. Bottom line here, both of these tablets now have a full retail price ($399.99 and $549.99 respectively) and a note that there is “no service commitment” required. That bit aside, while getting a discount is always nice — the amount of subsidy (discount) that we often saw given with a tablet hardly made it seem worthy of a two-year commitment. Not to mention, this move sort of makes sense given the new AT&T Mobile Share (shared data) plans are coming.
