Canon intro’s two new super-zoom cameras, PowerShot SX500 IS and SX160 IS

Canon today has introduced two new cameras under its Powershot series. They are the PowerShot SX500 IS and PowerShot SX160 IS which are both branded as super-zoom cameras. The PowerShot SX500 IS and PowerShot SX160 IS boasts of 30x and 16x optical zoom respectively. Both digital shooters feature advanced auto focus (AF) with enhanced speeds from previous PowerShot SX cameras. This means that these two cameras will let you capture shots as they happen – with reduced lag time. The PowerShot SX160 IS is actually a follow-up to the SX150 while the SX500 IS is an entirely new product in the series.

Briefly, here are the key features of the Canon PowerShot SX500:

  • 24mm wide angle lens
  • 30x optical zoom
  • 16MP sensor
  • DIGIC 4 image processor
  • Intelligent IS system
  • 3-inch LCD screen
  • Zoom Framing Assis

And the Canon PowerShot SX160 boasts of the following special features:

  • 3-inch LCD screen

The Canon PowerShot SX500 and Canon PowerShot SX160 are scheduled for release sometime in September for $329.99 and $229.99 respectively.
