We just got a word from TomTom saying that their mobile apps for iPhone/iPad have just been updated. According to TomTom, the update has made it easier to find friends using Foursquare. This adds to the existing social features of the app by way of its current Facebook and Twitter integration. Hence, making the app a more social-friendly navigation app.

The update is available as a free download if you currently have the app on your iPhone or iPad. But if you haven’t used it yet, the app will cost you $49.99 to download it from the iOS App Store. New to the app are various ways of finding people. These include the ability to navigate to addresses found on the internet, search with Foursquare as well as the ability to get the latest TomTom maps. Navigating to places you’ve found on the internet is as easy as copying the address and pasting it into the app. The TomTom app will automatically work out the destination and direct you to the place. The same goes true when navigating to Foursquare places. The update also brings in other improvements to the app including some improvements to the user interface.
