Just to offer a quick refresher, the updated Kindle Fire is priced at $159 and is touted as having 40 percent faster performance, twice the memory and a longer battery life. What that actually means, the Kindle Fire has been given a processor and RAM upgrade and now has a battery life of up to 9 hours. Otherwise, the Kindle Fire has a 7-inch (1024 x 600) IPS display, 8GB of internal storage, Wi-Fi connectivity and a weight of 14.1 ounces.

In terms of the Kindle Fire HD. This one is available in a 16GB and 32GB variety which are priced at $199 and $249 respectively. The Kindle Fire HD also has a 7-inch IPS display, however this one is sporting a resolution of 1280 x 800.
