We still need the confirmation from the carriers, you know, with the specific pricing and release dates — but we do know that another Android running LG smartphone will soon be available in Canada. More specifically, LG has announced the upcoming availability of the Optimus G. The handset will be available by way of Rogers, Telus and Bell as well as with Wireless Wave, Wireless etc., The Source, Tbooth Wireless, Future Shop and Best Buy. With that, while we are waiting on the carriers — lets offer a refresh on the specs. Those begin with a 4.7-inch (1280 x 768) WXGA True HD IPS Plus display, quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and go on to include the following;

  • 8 megapixel rear-facing camera
  • 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera
  • 32GB of internal storage
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 2100 mAh battery
  • 4G LTE and 3G connectvity
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0
  • USB 2.0
  • A-GPS
  • NFC
  • Measurements: 131.9 x 68.9 x 8.45mm
  • Weight: 145g

Finally, as we often see with new smartphone announcements, LG has stated that the Optimus G will get Jelly Bean. At present that update is “expected” to arrive in early Q2 2013.
