Toshiba has unveiled the latest in their portable hard drive lineup, the Canvio Slim, which as the name implies — is a bit on the thin side. Perhaps a bit more important though, this model is sorting 500GB of storage space, PC and Mac compatibility and USB 3.0 connectivity (with backward compatibility with USB 2.0). The drive measures in at 107 x 75 x 9mm. Yup, just 9mm thick. In fact, given the size of the drive, Toshiba is pushing this one towards those with an ultrabook. Touting it as the “perfect companion for your ultrabook.” That bit aside though, some of the other points worth noting; the Canvio Slim ships with a 3-year limited warranty, has a 5400 RPM drive speed and interface transfer rates of up to 5Gb/s with USB 3.0 or up to 480Mb/s with USB 2.0. Finally, the drive is priced at $115 and expected to begin shipping soon.
