Sony will reportedly release high capacity external batteries for mobile devices

If the recently announced Mophie Juice Pack Reserve Micro interested you, perhaps Sony’s latest standalone mobile device chargers can provide some friendly competition. TechHive reports Sony is set to release a line of external batteries in Japan in October.

The chargers are said to be flat and are around the same size as a modern smartphone. One model contains a 7,000mAh battery, while lesser models carry smaller 3,500mAh and 2,000mAh batteries. As for pricing, the most expensive charger will cost 7,000 yen ($90) and the cheapest model will be 2,300 yen ($30). Exact international pricing hasn’t been announced.
