The last time we wrote about Moo.com, the company was giving away Facebook business cards to a select number of customers. The idea made sense considering how connected a lot of us are to social media. Today, Moo.com is experimenting with NFC technology as a way to add a “third side” to business cards.
Moo.com is now offering a free NFC business card to the first 150,000 customers that place an order with the company. The NFC chip inside the card will be programmed to visit a landing page with the card holder’s contact information when it is scanned by a NFC-enabled device such as a smartphone or tablet. In the future, Moo.com will allow its customers to change the kind of information the NFC chip is programmed with. For example, scanning the card may direct to a resume, queue up downloads or automatically save contact information.
The NFC business cards will be available to everyone in early 2013.
