This past Friday was the first launch day for the iPhone 5 and as of today, the handset is coming available with regional based US carriers as well as in 22 additional countries. Beginning first with the regional carriers, those include the following; Appalachian Wireless, Cellcom, Cricket Communications, C Spire, GCI and nTelos.
In terms of the pricing, Cricket is a contract-free offering and will have the handset priced at $499.99 (16GB). Otherwise, Appalachian Wireless, Cellcom, C Spire and nTelos will be selling the iPhone 5 for $149.99 (16GB), $249.99 (32GB) and $349.99 (64GB). And yes, that is $50 less as compared to the four major US carriers. At this time and despite a release expected for today, GCI has yet to update their website to make the change from register now to buy now.
Finally, as for those 22 additional countries, those include the following; Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
