AT&T has officially announced the upcoming availability of the Sony Xperia TL. The handset has yet to be priced and at this time, a release date or timeframe has not been revealed. We do however have some specs and details. For one, AT&T appears to be pushing the convenience of NFC. Well, NFC along with the SmartTags. In fact, AT&T will be including one SmartTag in the box to get you started.
“Using near field communication technology, SmartTags let you store device preferences for a variety of locations and situations – like opening and controlling volume on the music player if you head out for a run, turning on GPS and Bluetooth in the car or turning on your alarm and silencing your ringer at night.”
Otherwise, the Xperia TL will have features to include a 4.6-inch Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 13 megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video recording and Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. The handset has also been dubbed ‘upgradeable’ to Jelly Bean, however as of now that was simply noted as “following launch.” The handset will have LTE support and also come with three pre-loaded apps from Sony — Walkman, Movies and Album.
Finally, aside from the specs, the Sony Xperia TL will be the James Bond phone. Seriously. The handset will be featured in the upcoming James Bond movie, Skyfall and will also ship with some exclusive Bond related goodies.
