A combined T-Mobile USA and MetroPCS is one step closer to becoming a reality. The Deutschland edition of the Financial Times reported the deal will have Deutsche Telekom own 74 percent of the combined companies. This report was confirmed in a press release issued by T-Mobile USA. In addition to a 26 percent ownership in the new company, MetroPCS will also reportedly receive $1.5 billion in cash.
T-Mobile and MetroPCS combined will have around 42.5 million subscribers, and will possess $24.8 billion in revenue.
This merger will be subject to approval by the appropriate regulatory bodies. It was during this process that the T-Mobile USA and AT&T merger received enough backlash to ultimately result in both companies pulling out. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2013.
