Acer has come forward with some official release date and price details for the Iconia W700 tablet. And for those not familiar with the W700, this is a Windows 8 device. Perhaps the key points here though, the release date and the price. The Acer Iconia W700 will be available on October 26th and it will be priced from $799.99.

With those details out of the way and knowing that the Iconia W700 will be running Windows 8, lets get into what else you can expect in terms of the hardware. The W700 will have an 11.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display, Intel HD Graphics 4000, Intel Core i3 or Core i5 (Ivy Bridge) processors, 4GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of SSD based storage, a front-facing webcam and a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera. The tablet will also have Dolby Home Theater v4 which is said to “boost sound for the headphones as well as the built-in speakers” along with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, G-Sensor, E-Compass and a gyrometer. Acer will also include a micro-HDMI to VGA adapter and a protective case in the box.

Those making the purchase can also expect to find other goodies such as Acer Green Instant On technology which means a 6 second boot time and a 1.5 second resume time, Acer Always Connect which will allow you to connect to a previously used hotspot in as little as 2.5 seconds and a battery life of up to 8 hours.

I bought this tablet and I was very happy until the moment I find out the buggy wi-fi issue. Basically I cannot have a regular and stable wi-fi connection away from my router. I cannot even change room in my house, I need to sit in the kitchen where my router is if I want to have internet. It’s a shame considering that internet connection is the most valuable thing for a tablet.

Acer Iconia W700 is a good tablet from acer but still remaining some important bugs to be resolved. The most important is the wi-fi connection that is not stable and you cannot browse internet if your router is more than 5m away from you.
