Some good news today for those who enjoy Starbucks and have been hoping and/or waiting for the ability to pay for your coffee with the Square Wallet app. The news is coming by way of a recently issued Starbucks press release where they noted the following;

“Starbucks chairman, president and ceo Howard Schultz and Square founder and ceo Jack Dorsey announced that customers will be able to use Square Wallet to pay with their mobile phones at U.S. Starbucks stores beginning in early November.”

In other words, in just about a months time you will be able to pay with Square. Of course, the benefit for Starbucks here, along with the ability to pay for your drink a bit easier, the Square Wallet app will also offer a directory making it even easier for a potential customer to find one of the more than 7,000 U.S. company-operated Starbucks stores.

In addition, Starbucks is working on a method for digital tips. Yup, it looks like the tip jar on the counter will not be the only way to show a bit of extra gratitude to your favorite barista. This digital tipping solution will be coming to the Starbucks mobile app as well as the Square Wallet app, however it is not expected to arrive until the summer of next year.
