Kobo announced the Glo and Mini readers back in early-September and while they began accepting pre-orders almost immediately, the devices remained unavailable for sale in the UK and Canada. And well, as of today, that has changed. Those living in Canada and/or the UK will now be able to make a purchase of either of these Kobo models. The availability is as follows; Canada:
Indigo Music & Books
Future Shop
Best Buy
UK:
WHSmith
As for pricing, those looking for the Kobo Glo can expect to pay $129.99 or £99.99 and those looking for the Kobo Mini can expect to pay $79.99 or £59.99.
Otherwise, given it has been just about a month since we discussed either of these readers — lets offer a recap on the specs. Beginning first with the Kobo Glo, this one brings a 6-inch E Ink XGA Pearl display at 1024 x 758 with built-in ComfortLight technology, a weight of 6.5 ounces, internal storage for 1000 books, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi connectivity and a battery that will last up to 55 hours of continuous with the light on. The Kobo Glo is available in a variety of colors to include black, pink, blue and silver — each of which have a soft-quilted back cover. Moving over to the Kobo Mini and we have a device with a 5-inch E Ink Vizplex 110 display, internal storage for 1000 books, Wi-Fi connectivity, a battery life of about 1 month (with Wi-Fi turned off) and a weight of 4.73 ounces. The Kobo Mini is available in black or white and given it is called the Mini, lets mention the size — 4 x 5.2 x 0.4-inches.
