We’re certainly starting to see a rise in Android tablets for children. Toys R Us has its store covered with the Tabeo, and Ematic is looking to do the same with Walmart. Ematic released the FunTab Pro today for $149.99. It’s a 7-inch Android 4.0 tablet with a rubberized protective faceplate that should stand up to rough play.

Kids don’t care about specs (that must be bliss), but we’re going to go over them for the adults out there. The FunTab Pro is powered by a non-specific 1GHz, processor, contains 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, front and rear cameras and a HDMI output. The screen resolution is 800×480.

Now that we’ve gone over hardware, let’s talk software. In lieu of the stock Android 4.0 interface, the FunTab Pro uses a customized user interface. Ematic is highlighting interactive features that lets parents record themselves reading books that the child can watch. Approved individuals can also send video messages to the child via the web, or on the FunTab Pro.

With the holiday season coming up, you should have no shortage of kid-friendly tablets to choose from.
