While not yet available for public download, Gmail for Android v4.2 appears to have been leaked. And perhaps a little nicer to hear — this leak has confirmed some new features. The details are coming by way of the folks over at AndroidPolice, who note that they “may or may not have” gotten the APK by way of an LG Nexus system dump. Certainly interesting, but more the point here, that crew did just what we would have hoped and dove in to discover what was coming. In short — Gmail for Android v4.2 is bringing a few new features, one of which includes the much requested pinch-to-zoom. In addition, Gmail for Android v4.2 will bring other goodies to include swipe to archive/delete and the ability to report a message as phishing. Touching back on the swiping to archive and/or delete and we learn of a feature that has some customization settings. You can set this to allow you to make your swipe have no effect, have it always delete or have it archive or delete. Finally, no word as to when this may be publicly available for download and at the moment, it has been confirmed to run on a Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which presumably means that it will also run on Ice Cream Sandwich devices.
