The competition for holiday shoppers is just starting to heat up. Big box retailers are determined to not lose ground to online sites such as Amazon. Price matching is the key to making that happen. Much like Best Buy, Target has announced its intentions to price match online retailers.
Target’s price matching initiative will begin on November 1 and will end on December 16. Target will also match the prices on its website until December 24. By providing shoppers with incentives such as these, Target stores are less likely to be used as showrooms while customers turn to retailers such as Amazon to make purchases.
Target is also using QR codes and its mobile app to increase purchases in its stores. The QR codes ensure that even if a product is out of stock in the store, customers can still make purchases and have it shipped anywhere for free.
