On October 23, we will all witness Apple unveiling the smaller, 7-inch iPad Mini. While many of us are excited about this announcement, some people are not. One of them is possibly Google because its Nexus 7 tablet is starting to gain recognition. The iPad Mini will directly compete against the Google Nexus 7 tablet in the 7-inch department of the tablet wars. And so, to possibly cushion the impact of the iPad Mini to the market Google seems to have a good plan. And this is by way of introducing a new flavor of the Nexus 7, this time with additional storage (32GB), and surprise — said tablet may even have a lower price tag. UK retailer Argos sort of confirms this when it released its Christmas Gift Guide. Included on the list is a 32GB Nexus 7 tablet with a price tag of £199.99. That’s almost the same price of the Nexus 7 in the UK market. Likewise, Staples in the US is also showing a placeholder for the Nexus 7 on its business site, Staples Advantage. The price of the tablet is $250, a dollar more expensive than the 16GB Nexus 7. Staples is also earmarking an October 18 release date for the tablet but we doubt if this will push through since it is a bit close considering that there’s no official announcement from Google just yet.
All that said, it would be interesting to see how the presence of the 32GB Nexus 7 tablet will impact the iPad Mini or vice versa. If you are planning to buy a 7-inch tablet, which would you rather have?
