Apple makes it official, unveils the iPad mini

Coming as the announcement many were waiting for — Apple has officially announced the iPad mini. The iPad mini will have a 7.9-inch display and arrived priced from $329. Of course, as we have seen with the other iPad models — that $329 price point is just the beginning. The iPad mini will climb up to $659 if you want to get a 64GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model. Touching on the cellular, that is 4G LTE.

Before we dive any further into the specs, lets break down the rest of the pricing and note the pre-order availability. The iPad mini will be available for pre-order beginning on October 26 (this Friday). The Wi-Fi model will begin shipping on November 2 and the Wi-Fi + Cellular model will begin shipping two weeks later. The full pricing is as follows;

  • Wi-Fi: 16GB for $329, 32GB for $429, 64GB for $529
  • Wi-Fi + Cellular: 16GB for $459, 32GB for $559, 64GB for $659

As for the specs. The iPad mini will feature a 1024 x 768 display resolution, FaceTime HD camera, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, a Lightning connector, up to 10 hours of battery life, a thickness of 7.2mm and a weight of 0.68 pounds. Finally, the iPad mini will be made of aluminum and come in two colors — black with slate and white with silver.
