WordPress iOS app updated with featured image support, push notifications for self-hosted blogs, and more

WordPress for whatever it is worth, is still the best blogging platform and used by many. Surprisingly, despite the success of its blogging platform, the WordPress folks has not forsaken the mobile version of their product. As a matter of fact, WordPress for iOS has just been given an update and the app is now up to version 3.2. The update brings along several new features including featured image support, push notification for self-hosted blogs, more accessibility settings and a host of bug and crash fixes which include improvement into the app’s statistical feature.

To give you an idea of what these three new major features are all about, well, first the featured image support allows you to upload an image for a post if your blog’s theme supports this option. Assigning an image to be the featured image is done by simply using the featured image uploader in the settings option of the app’s post editor. Push notifications needs no explanation as it is simply pushing the same feature introduced to blogs hosted on This means that practically any blog running on WordPress platform can now have push notifications enabled. Finally, the updated WordPress iOS app has brought preferences to the settings section of the app itself. This was previously located in the Settings app.
