SugarSync has officially launched for Windows 8 and Windows RT. And what is nice, the app brings the features that we have come to love and expect from SugarSync — as well as some new Windows 8 features. Some of the new features include Live Tiles, pinning for easier access from the Start screen and Snap View which will allow you to keep SugarSync open while browsing the web. The app also has support for the Share Charm which should make it quicker and easier to share large files from any Windows 8 device.

  • Live Tiles – The apps include live tiles that keep you up to date with recent changes to your files, and more. Now you’ve got a direct view into your Cloud activity.
  • Pinning – Now you can pin your most frequently accessed folders to the Start screen for quick, one-touch access. Accessing your Cloud just got faster.
  • Snap View – By incorporating Snap View, you can now keep SugarSync open while browsing the Internet, chatting with a friend, or updating Facebook. Your Cloud is now a multi-tasker.
  • Share Charm – Share any file via the Share charm. The Share charm combined with the power of your Cloud streamlines the sharing of large files from any Windows 8 device.

The Windows 8 and Windows RT apps are available today, and can be found by way of the Windows Store. The apps are free to download and free to use. The free account offers 5GB of storage space and paid accounts are available for those who need some extra storage. Finally, while a timeframe wasn’t given, a release of SugarSync for Windows Phone was promised as “coming soon.”
