Google outlined new features that will be present in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean when it releases, but that doesn’t mean we have to wait to experience some improvements. Google Search has been updated for Jelly Bean devices with additional Google Now integration.

In addition to providing you updates on sports scores and pulling down locations of interest based on your Google search history, Google Now can also link to your Gmail account. When you allow this functionality, Google Now will provide cards when you receive emails related to flight confirmations, hotel confirmations, package deliveries, restaurant bookings and event bookings. You’ll also get cards about popular places to take photos, concerts new you and new movies in theaters.

It’s also possible to launch apps from Google Search. Google Now doesn’t need to be open to pull this off. All you have to do is click the microphone and say something such as “launch Gmail.”
