Kim Dotcom continued the teasing for the new Mega service earlier in the month when he revealed the new domain name. For those who missed that bit, the new domain was Me.ga, which is based on the country of Gabon. And well, it looks like the name has already been suspended. The details of the suspension come from Stuff.co.nz who are reporting that Gabon Communications Minister Blaise Louembe has called for the domain to be suspended noting that Gabon “cannot serve as a platform or screen for committing acts aimed at violating copyrights, nor be used by unscrupulous people”. Certainly an interesting twist here. Of course, Mr. Dotcom seems to have expected this move and appears to have alternate plans. Dotcom told his followers not to worry, stating that they “have an alternative domain” and that “this just demonstrates the bad faith witch hunt the US government is on.” That being said, it should be interesting to see what happens to that alternative domain and whether that will live or die once it becomes know.
