T-Mobile has recently posted some news about network upgrades in Baltimore, Houston and Washington DC. According to details provided, users in these areas will now “benefit from enhanced voice and data coverage, and faster speeds on unlocked devices, including the iPhone.” Yes, they went straight for the iPhone.
T-Mobile notes that those choosing to bring an unlocked iPhone will be able to save up to $50 per month as compared to AT&T and that internal tests using an iPhone 4S have shown “devices running over 4G (HSPA+) on our 1900 network recorded on average 70% faster download speeds than iPhone 4S devices on AT&T’s network.” And of course, T-Mobile is touting their unlimited all-you-can-eat data plans.
Breaking down those network upgrades a little bit further and we have the following;
- Washington D.C.: Alexandria, VA; Arlington, VA; Chevy Chase, MD; Falls Church, VA; Laurel, MD; McLean, VA; and Silver Spring, MD.
- Baltimore: Glen Burnie and Towson, MD
- Houston: Cypress, Jersey Village, Humble, Kingwood, and The Woodlands.
Finally, T-Mobile also stated that they have planned upgrades for additional cities to include Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York metro area, Philadelphia, San Francisco, San Diego and Seattle.
