Amazon quietly rolled-out a monthly subscription option for Prime in early-November. And well, not even a month later, it looks like the company has removed that option. Amazon confirmed to AllThingsD that while they “regularly test new options” they are “no longer signing up new customers for Amazon Prime monthly memberships.” That being said, those looking to become Prime members, you will once again be limited to signing up for a year at a time and at a cost of $79. Of course, we should point out that while a $7.99 monthly option was nice, you would have been paying more over the course of the year.
