Coming by way of a recent press release announcement, RIM has announced that they now have “more than 50 carriers” supporting integrated carrier billing for the BlackBerry App World. As to what this means for RIM, well, customers on these carriers may be more likely to purchase apps. In fact, RIM noted that;
“Aggregated data indicates that customers’ propensity to purchase apps on BlackBerry App World increases when carrier billing is offered, with an average of 75% of gross sales transacted through the carrier and average carrier revenues derived from apps increased between 100%-300% after launch.”
Otherwise, aside from having carrier supported billing with more than 50 carriers, the BlackBerry App World is now available in 170 markets and stocked with more than 100,000 smartphone apps.
